Description
Archontophoenix cunninghamiana, commonly known as the King Palm or Bangalow Palm, is a majestic, fast-growing palm prized for its smooth, ringed, gray-green trunk and graceful, arching canopy of feathery, dark green fronds. Native to the rainforests of eastern Australia, this elegant palm features a slender, self-cleaning trunk (shedding its dead leaves naturally) topped with a lush crown of pinnate, drooping, glossy green leaves. In summer, it produces showy, branched inflorescences of small, fragrant, lilac-pink to purple flowers, followed by clusters of small, round, bright red fruits that attract birds. Exceptionally shade-tolerant when young, but thrives in full sun with ample water, it is an outstanding choice for a specimen tree, avenue planting, or tropical accent in frost-free landscapes.
