Description

Caroline Chinese Wisteria is a classic selection of the vigorous Chinese species, known for its long, fragrant clusters of lavender-blue flowers in spring. Like all Chinese wisterias, it is a fast-growing, powerful vine that requires a very sturdy support structure and committed annual pruning to control its size and encourage flowering.

• Produces abundant, moderately long, fragrant chains of lavender-blue flowers in mid to late spring, typically just before or as the leaves emerge.

• A vigorous, fast-growing vine that can quickly cover large structures (25-30 ft+). It twines clockwise (right to left).

• Requires strong, permanent support (heavy-duty pergola, steel arbor) and strict annual pruning (summer and winter) to manage growth and promote blooms. Can become invasive if neglected.

• Blooms on old wood; avoid late winter/spring pruning which removes flower buds.
