Description

The Candelabra Aloe is a spectacular, fast-growing succulent that lives up to its name, forming a large, branching shrub adorned with many upright, torch-like flower spikes in winter. Its blue-green leaves have pale teeth and form loose rosettes at the ends of thick, woody branches. It creates a dramatic, architectural presence and is excellent for wildlife gardens, attracting hummingbirds with its prolific bright red flowers.

• Grows as a large, much-branched, shrubby aloe, resembling a small tree.

• Famous for its massive, multi-branched inflorescences holding hundreds of vibrant red, orange, or yellow flowers in winter, resembling candelabras.

• Fast-growing and very drought tolerant once established.

• More cold-tolerant than many large aloes (to around 25-30°F / -4 to -1°C).

• An excellent choice for slopes, large-scale xeriscaping, or as a dramatic, bird-attracting hedge.

• The “Torch Aloe” is a common cultivar.
