The Leyland Cypress is the world’s most famous fast-growing evergreen screen. This vigorous hybrid forms a dense, soft-textured wall of gray-green foliage, growing several feet per year. It excels at quickly creating tall, thick privacy hedges and windbreaks. However, its rapid growth, large ultimate size, and susceptibility to certain diseases require careful siting and commitment to maintenance, making it best for large properties where it has room to breathe.

• Extremely fast-growing (3-4+ feet per year), ideal for quick screening.

• Forms a dense, columnar to pyramidal shape with soft, feathery, gray-green to blue-green foliage.

• Can be sheared into a formal hedge or left to grow more naturally.

• Shallow roots make it susceptible to drought stress, windthrow, and canker diseases (especially Seiridium and Botryosphaeria) in humid or stressed conditions.
