Description
The Pink Honeysuckle is a graceful, native climbing shrub or vine prized for its delicate pink flowers, attractive blue-green foliage, and bright red berries. A variety of the species Lonicera hispidula, this deciduous to semi-evergreen plant is native to western North America, ranging from southern Oregon through California, including the Channel Islands . Unlike aggressive, twining honeysuckle vines, this native variety has an open, sprawling habit that climbs by leaning on surrounding brush or structures, making it an excellent, non-invasive choice for trellises, fences, and naturalistic plantings . Its pretty pink, trumpet-shaped flowers bloom in spring and summer, followed by showy, translucent, orange-red berries that are a favorite of birds .
