Description

The standard Bower Wattle is a graceful, fast-growing small tree or large shrub, loved for its weeping habit of long, narrow, bright green foliage. It produces a cloud of creamy-yellow flowers in winter. While beautiful, it can be susceptible to root rot in heavy soil and has a relatively short lifespan (15-20 years), making it a temporary but impactful screening or accent tree.

• Grows rapidly into a graceful, weeping tree with long, cascading strands of bright green, needle-like foliage.

• Produces a showy display of pale yellow, puffball flower clusters in winter, providing color in the off-season.

• Major Caveat: It is highly susceptible to soil-borne fungal diseases (like Phytophthora) in poorly drained or overwatered soil, especially in our clay-heavy Bay Area soils. Perfect drainage is absolutely critical.

• Best used as a fast-growing temporary screen or specimen where its beauty can be enjoyed for its typical 15-25 year lifespan.
