Description
Southmoon is a vigorous, self-fertile Southern Highbush blueberry cultivar prized for its large, flavorful berries and attractive ornamental qualities. Developed by the University of Florida, this hybrid combines the heat tolerance of Southern species with the large fruit size of Northern Highbush varieties . It produces abundant clusters of medium to large, powder-blue berries with excellent sweet flavor, ripening in mid-season (typically late spring to early summer) . In spring, the shrub is adorned with delicate, urn-shaped white flowers that give way to the prized fruit. Its foliage turns brilliant shades of orange and red in fall, adding multi-season interest to the landscape. Adaptable to warmer climates and requiring fewer chill hours than Northern varieties, it is an outstanding choice for home gardeners in the southern and western United States.
