Ylang Ylang is the legendary source of one of the world’s most important perfume essences. This fast-growing tropical tree produces clusters of uniquely fragrant, greenish-yellow flowers whose complex scent is a cornerstone of the perfume industry. In the Bay Area, it is strictly a container specimen or greenhouse plant for all but the very warmest, most frost-free microclimates.

• A fast-growing, tender tropical tree that is not frost-hardy; it will be damaged or killed by temperatures below 45-50°F for extended periods.

• In the Bay Area, it must be grown in a large container and overwintered indoors in a bright, warm sunroom or greenhouse. It can spend the frost-free months outdoors in full sun.

• Requires high humidity, consistently warm temperatures, and bright light to thrive and produce its famous flowers.
